CAPS Leave App Privacy Statement
This privacy statement governs your use of CAPS Leave (“Application”) created by The University of Alabama (“UA”). The Application provides users with access to their Microsoft Exchange calendar regarding leave events.
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
Information Collection and Use
User Provided Information – The Application requires the user to connect using their Microsoft account. Please refer to their privacy statement published at https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-US/privacystatement. The Application only collects the minimum required user data to keep the user’s account connected. This information is encrypted and stored on the user’s device only for as long as the user’s account remains connected and will never leave the user’s phone.
Automatically Collected Information – The Application may collect certain information automatically, such as the type of mobile device you use, the number of users and sessions, the app version and updates, your mobile operating system, and information about the way you use the Application. Information that is automatically collected is anonymized.
Types of Data Collected from Third Parties
Analytics
The only analytic tools used by the Application are provided by Google via the Google Play Store if using an Android OS device or Apple via the Apple App Store if using an iOS device. No other 3rd party analytic tools are used by the Application.
Usage Data
When you access the Application with a mobile device, this Usage Data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Use of Data
The University of Alabama uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Application
- To provide customer care and support
- To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Application
- To monitor the usage of the Application
- To detect, prevent and address technical issues.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
Children’s Privacy
In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that you’re Children has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
